Dear Coaches and Members,
I would like to hold a meeting in the Clubhouse on Thursday evening 9th January at 8pm to discuss the appointment of coaches for this year.
Mary has kindly reviewed the player registers (except for U8's) and we anticipate the following numbers at each age group (assuming 100% of players registered in 2013 re-register in 2014):
U10 - 20 (11 from this year, 9 coming up from U8)

U12 - 20 (12 from this year, 8 coming up from U10)

U14 - 24 (14 from this year, 10 coming up from U12)

U16 - 17 (7 from this year, 10 coming up from U14)

U18 - 14 (6 from this year, 8 coming up from U16).
With the exception of U10's and U12's, all other teams require coaching appointments to be confirmed.
We will have lists of the players for each of the teams on Thursday for review and should also assess who else we think should be playing for the club (at any age group).
Of particular concern are the numbers available at the U16 and U18 levels.
****Can you please contact anyone who you feel may be interested in leading a team or assisting with coaching and invite them along on Thursday evening.****

**If anyone would like to discuss with me beforehand, please get them to contact me on 087 9097937**
The Minor Board is aiming to conclude all coaching appointments by Saturday 25th January. The Minor Board AGM is scheduled for 1st February and we will need to ratify the appointments at the meeting.
Thanks for your support
Len

The Club’s social event of the year i.e. The Annual Quiz in St Joseph’s Hall, on Friday night last, was once again an outstanding success, with in excess of fifty teams pitting their wits against Tony Conboy’s excellent set of topical, quirky and challenging questions. The Egan Family and friends, Ballytrasna came out on top. They were closely followed by a Boyle/St Michaels combination, and another two local combinations just one mark behind in joint third. Thanks to all who supported this event. Thanks also to all who helped in preparing the hall in advance and in its reinstatement on the following day. The Club also thanks Trojan Software for provision of IT equipment and James and Enda O’Boyle for operating the equipment on the night. Thanks to Tony-assisted by Enda O’Boyle- for his work in setting and asking the questions.

It was a source of disappointment that the charity football challenge game between the 2005 and 2013 Intermediate Champions couldn’t take place on St Stephen’s Day because of a frozen pitch. It is hoped that it can be re-scheduled for a another suitable date.

The Senior Club AGM will be held in the Clubroom on Saturday evening 18th January. Nomination Forms have been issued to all members and they should be completed and returned to the Secretary, Kathleen Hanmore within the coming two weeks. It is to be hoped that a number of new/young/enthusiastic members will make themselves available for positions in running the club and keeping up the high standards set by the outgoing committee which has done outstanding work in recent years. A number of outgoing officers have served their terms and are obliged to step down this year. They include the Chairman, Aidan Lavin; Secretary, Kathleen Hanmore and Ass. P.R.O. Tony Conboy.

The Club wishes to thank James O’Boyle for his kind donation of a momento of the Roscommon All Ireland winning Minor Football team, which has been signed by panel members Cian Smith and Ciaran Cox as well as Manager Fergal O’Donnell and selector Stephen Bohan. It has been placed proudly on display in the Clubroom.

******There will be a special event in the Clubroom on 23rd January when a plaque will be unveiled to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the foundation of the Roscommon County Board in Boyle on January 23rd 1889*****.

Proposed Historic GAA Picture display in Boyle GAA Clubrooms.

Among the projects that it is hoped to carry out early this  year is that of putting on display a representative exhibition  of club pictures collected over the years. These include a few pre. the 1950s’ and a rising graph of pics. from the latter ‘60s’. Also it is hoped to display a very good collection of Roscommon county pics. especially pertaining to the period 1938 to 1953. All this will take funding if it is to be done properly and if anyone is interested in sponsoring/contributing to aspects of this display they might contact t.c. _

****The quality of the display will hinge on the outlay that can be spent on same. This will have to be sourced independently of Club normal, essential, funding.**** (t.c.)

Plans are in preparation for the Club’s presentation dinner dance--details will be announced very shortly.

Sympathy is extended to the Wynne Families, Boyle on the death of Mrs Maura Sheahan, Longford.

The Club (Senior, Minor and Ladies) wishes all players, members, supporters, sponsors and all who provide media coverage, a very happy, healthy and sporting New Year.
A Bon Voyage to our Christmas visitors who are returning to various parts of the world as we speak. We hope you had a good Christmas in Boyle.
