Feelystone Juniors:
They play their final on Saturday v Kilbride in Boyle at 2.30. It would be good if there was good support for same, a considerable achievement. Apart from the fisted points one of the things I tried to promote once was the wearing by subs et al of good track suits and warm gear at matches!! Perhaps it is among the many things that might be promoted……if people agree of course!
Scor:
Karen Carty did the Club proud on Friday night last when she qualified for the County Final of the Scór na nOg solo singing competition. The County Final will be held in the Dean Crowe Hall, Athlone on Sunday 13th December. Tickets must be booked on-line from the venue and as they are limited they should be booked immediatly.

Sun. 1.30.

Stars of the Week: Kathleen and Mary for the tea at half time on Saturday.
On the field of play probably the Cox brothers Cillian and Ciaran. Honorable mention for the referee, Francis Keane, who travelled from Cloofad to Boyle on a foggy day to enable the game.
Karen Carty for her Scor participation.
Stars from the previous week would include the U 16s' ; 3 goal Jake McCrann, the Smith brothers and Luka Roddy.

Not a GAA thing: Would anyone, near to hand, have a copy of; 'The diary of Anne Frank' a.s.a.p. thanks.

Lotto Results:
There was no winner at the draw in The Moving Stairs on Sat. the 21st. The numbers drawn were; 7/10/13/18. The €20 winners were: Gerry Nerney/Bernard Shannon/Sandra McCrann/Marie Lavin/Pat Carty/ Ann Kean (B'Meen)/ Eddie Creighton/Irene Tivnan/Sandra Tiernan/Elisha Cuffe. House Prize; Mary Sweeney.
The Jackpot now stands at €2,800 and the next draw takes place in An Craoibhin on next Sat. Dec. the 5th with Team 'A'.

N.B.
Teams and team captains please note that ALL envelopes-sold or unsold- be collected from bars on the night of the draw. If this is not done it leaves us open to x, y, z.....I shouldn't need to elaborate on that....and it has happened in other clubs.....Castlerea a few years ago for example.....Also I was told, in one pub, that the sellers left the (crowded) bar without making sure that sold envelopes were handed up. So they were left after them with the same possible consequences. Let's tighten up our game. the Lotto is the lifeblood of the Club and I imagine that with the increased team numbers a burden has sustantially decreased off the few who carried it for years. Sin e.

Sat. 10.00pm
Not a GAA thing but....there will be a Quiz in The Cross Bar in Ballinameen on Friday Dec. the 4th for a worthy venture. If you've been to recent T.C. quizes you will be at a real advantage as similar if not the same questions are up again!!

Boyle Juniors for County Div. 4 League Final:
Boyle 0.14 St. Aidan's 1.10.
Boyle Juniors had a very good win over a pretty good St. Aidan's side at a foggy Abbey Park on Saturday the 28th. Boyle led by just one point at half time 8 points to 7. About 5 of the Aidan's scroes came from frees. it was good to see a fisted Boyle point-a mantra of mine- by Peter Lavin mid way in the half. St. Aidan's caught Boyle napping on the resunption and from a quick free they scored the game's only goal. The way things looked with the diffic7ult conditions and all this might have been crucial. However the game progressed in a nip and tuck fashion to the end. After 18 minutes of the hald St. Aidan's led by 2 points but Boyle finished the stronger with points by Cian Smith (free),Donal Kelly and the cliching score came from Peter Lavin with time up. So Boyle face Kilbride in the Final, as far as I know. I hope this is played quickly as it has been a long season. The prize is regular Tansey Cup next year and this could only be beneficial for the adult football scene.
The Boyle team: C.Beirne, C.Horan, J.Lyons, J.Healy, C.Beirne, C.Cox, A.Finn (0.1), C.Cox (0.2),N.McKenna, P.Lavin (0.2), D.O'Connor, D.Kelly (0.2), C.Smith (0.5 incl frees), D.Callaghan (0.1), One point missing!) R.Walshe with T.Lowe, M.O'Connor and Mark McGovern. Well done to their management team of David O'Connor, Bernie Shannon, Paul Beirne and Dessie plus their official umpires Aidan and Martin Dolan.

Scor:
"Tony,
Karen Carty qualified for the county final of the solo singing event at the semi-finals which were held in Ballyleague last night".
Martin (Dolan).
So Martin is getting some results from his missionary work with Scor in Boyle.

There will be a Club Senior Meeting on Tuesday night, Dec. 1st, to deal with the County Convention coming to boyle on Monday Dec. 14th. Incidentally there were two County Conventions in Boyle in the 80s'; in 1984 as part of the Centenary Year, in the hall, since the GAA in Roscommon was officially begun in Boyle and in 1989,in the Forest Park Hotel, to commemorate the hundred years of the GAA in Ros.

The strong Club's Minor AGM takes place on Thursday night.

Odds:
Nil to do with GAAh but I’ve been directed towards pretty funny u tube excerpts called ‘Wind Ups’ at Cork 96 Fm esp. one of the dog owner and the licence inspector. There is also a set of ‘wind up calls Scott Mills’ especially those involving a pizza owner and a chap looking to play a request on a radio station eventually getting through to the same pizza owner. Check them out……strong (!!) ........language.

I’ve heard a rumour that France has offered to play at the opening of the new Aviva Stadium, when it opens, is it next year at the old Landsdowne Rd. Perhaps they can get Roy over (for) it as well!

There was a good pic. of Henri playing for Kerry on the Indo web site today.

Club Star of the week.......the Abbey Park!

Top Corner:
Not a GAA thing at all but I'll just ask. Would anyone have, and let us have a loan of, a fairly recent aerial photograph of Boyle which might be suitable for a local publication? Needed a.s.a.p. Thanks T.C.

The U 21 team:
The victorious U 16 team after their County 'A' League win over Glavey's at Ballinlough with guests Brian and Adam O'Connor front left and right. Unavoidably absent from pic. Paul Duignan trainer.
U 16s’ take League Title in Style:
The highlight of the weekend was the tremendous victory by our U16s’ in the County Division 1 League in a nailbiting encounter in Ballinlough when they overcame the local side Michael Glaveys by 1.10 to 1.8. The sides have had some titanic struggles in the past four years but Glavey’s have dominated the winning of those albeit by narrow margins with a very good side. It was an excellent Boyle performance with a wonderful goal from Donal Smith just before the interval setting them up for a historic Division 1 success. Glavey’s played with the wind in the first half but Boyle were doing fine in terms of containment until Glavey's scored a goal on 18 minutes. This put them a goal ahead. However Boyle fought back culminating in the fine Smith goal, just on the break, left the half-time scores level at 1.4 each. Boyle, with the wind, added four points in the first 10 minutes to Glavey’s 1. Then there followed a period of attrition as Glavey’s came back into it. With time fading away Luka Roddy who had an excellent game gave Boyle a 3 point cushion and despite a very late Glavey’s point Boyle’s tenacity and courage held out for a fine win which meant a lot to the squad, trainers and supporters. While a few players had quiet games the combined effort was first class with a lot of fine performances. The Smiths, Donal and Enda were the launch-pad of the victory especially Donal's great goal (not the first one I’ve seen from the same player). All the backs played well especially the tenacity of the full back line. While I’ve mentioned Luka another to shine was young McLoughlin from frees and also with some fine catches one at the end which was very important. One has to keep in mind that the team they beat was of top quality and it likely that they will meet again at minor in the years to come. I fancy Boyle to get the upper hand in the long term.
It was an excellent team performance. Well done to the entire panel and the management of Gary Goldrick, Paul Duignan and Jonathan Conroy. They are not finished for the season yet however as they have the Ahern Cup Final versus St Croan's to come-perhaps at the coming weekend-see fixtures for details. The team was; G. Gunning, Brennan, Harrington, Furey, Goldrick, Goldrick, Sweeney, E. Smith and D. Smith (1.2), McPadden (0.1), McKenna, Lavin, Roddy (0.2), McLoughlin (0.3 2 frs.) and McCrann.

U 21s’ Bow Out After Keen Tussle:

Eire Og 0.9 Boyle 0.7.

Boyle U21s’ were not as lucky as they were on the wrong end of a two point margin when they lost to Eire Og in the championship play-of in Ballyfarnon on Saturday. Some missed opportunities, especially goal opportunities, left Boyle on the wrong side of the two point loss. However it was not a case of a throw away as Eire Og are a very good, strong, side with few weaknesses including subs. In Darren McDermott they had the difference on Saturday. He was responsible for most of their scores and also set up a number of those he didn’t score himself. At half-time Eire Og led on the score of 5 points to 3 with Boyle having the wind in the second half. Boyle levelled with points from Cian Smith and Ml. Corrigan. However Boyle were unable to push on from there and they had a scoring famine for about the 18 minutes. By the 22 minute Eire Og had gone 3 points up which Boyle reduced to 2 in a dramatic finale with two pointed frees by Cian Smith but Eire Og didn’t give up and ran out good winners. They play St. Dominick’s next with favourites Kilbride awaiting the winners. The Boyle team was as follows: C. Beirne, C. Brennan, C. Boylan, Ml. O’Donnell, C. O’Neill, C. Cox, J. McDermott, C. Cox, K. McLoughlin, P. Lavin, D. O’Connor, Ml. Corrigan (0.2), J. Suffin, D. Callaghan, C. Smith (0.5 frs) with T. Lowe. The U 21 season is now over. Thanks to the panel and to Gary and his management colleagues.

Juniors:
The Feelystone Junior team is awaiting details of its next outing-see fixtures.

Roch in the Mirror:
Roch Hanmore featured prominently in a product promotion picture featured in the Irish Mirror on Saturday the 14th. The pic was taken near the Sydney Opera House. Roch was wearing the Feelystone Boyle Junior jersey. This demonstrates that if you sponsor Boyle GAA the possibility of local, national and international exposure exists.
Scor:
Boyle made a welcome return to Scór na nOg at the weekend with participation in three events in Elphin over the weekend. While there were valiant performances in figure dancing and quiz, the highlight was the qualification for the next round by Karen Carty in solo singing. Thanks to all who participated and thoughts are already on bigger and better efforts next year.
Lotto:
The jackpot was not won at the most recent Club lotto draw which was held in Dodd’s. The following were €20 winners;-Mary and Liam Coyle, Trevor Conroy, Canon Gerry Hanley, Nuala and John Diffley, Colm Loftus, Gerard Casserly, Nancy Clarke, Pat Cassidy, Padraig Daly and Owen Garvin. The house prize was won by Jean McPhearson. This week's draw will be held in the Moving Stairs on Saturday night next with Pat Goldrick's team in charge. The jackpot will be €2,700.
Minor AGM:
The Minor Club will hold its AGM in the Royal Hotel on Thursday December the 3rd at 8.30pm. Nominations for all club positions should be made to the Minor Club Secretary by Friday 27th November.
Boyle Ladies Club:
The Club extends its congratulations to U12 player Tara Duggan who competed in the World Traditional Karate Championships in Italy recently and brought home a gold medal and 3 silver medals. Well done Tara.

The Club entered the Connacht Council Ladies Club Recognition Award and whilst were not successful, were praised by the Connacht Council as a Club who support their local businesses and do not drift far from the town ,except for playing purposes. The Club wishes to thank those involved in this competition.
U16 registration and training will be commencing shortly. More details will follow next week.
Sin e for now as the year nears its competitive end –Juniors and Ahern Cup as far as I can see.
Slan.
Ps. Great to see former GAA under-age great Lorcan Egan togged out on stage in the musical as a Roman guard……the start of a new career perhaps! I’m glad I thought of that as he’d be annoyed if I missed it.

Friday Flash 5.30

I've just been made aware of a cartoon snippet of Effin Eddie Moroney's famous video of the Tipp. U 21 football final of '91 (I think) between Aherlow and Nenagh 'Boy'. If you haven't seen the video or DVD it is probably -for a GAAh head- the funniest hour + video you can get.

Anyway if you look for Effin Eddie (Moroney the famous commentator of the video) on utube to access the wee cartoon of 2 minutes.

Boyle Juniors Impressive Win.

Boyle 0.16 Western Gaels 0.8.

The Feelystone team had a convincing win over Western Gaels in the Division 4 North League Semi Final in Boyle on Sunday. There were fine performances throughout the field with everyone making a contribution and it was an enjoyable game to watch. At half time Boyle led by 0.8 to o.4. This pattern continued in the second half. Good direct play led to some very good scores. David Callaghan was the scorer-in-chief. I missed the first five points in the first quarter so I can’t attribute the scores accurately. O’Callaghan., Darren O’Connor ad Donal Kelly were the main scorers. The Boyle team was as follows: C. Beirne, C. Horan, J.S. Lyons, Ml. O’Donnell, A. Finn, C. Cox, J. McDermott, C. Cox, P. Lavin, N. McKenna, D. O’Connor, D. Kelly, T. Lowe, D. Callaghan, Jim Suffin with M. O’Connor and G. Goldrick. The team awaits news of their next fixture.

Mon. 7.30 pm
Lotto:
The following were winners of €20 each at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in the Moylurg Inn; Martin Purcell, Tom McGarty, Karl Keenan, Geno and Catherine Mattimoe, Sandra McCrann, Louise Kennedy, Tom Connolly, Nicole McDermott, John McPherson and Vincent McDonagh. The house prize was won by Gerry Tighe. The jackpot was not won and it will be at €2,600 for this week's draw which will be held in Dodds on this Saturday nigh. Mary Clifford's team will be in charge.

O’Gara Cup Final Roscommon Gaels 2.8 Boyle 1.9.
Our McGovern Directional Drilling team fell at the final hurdle when they lost by two points to Roscommon Gaels in an exciting O'Gara Cup Final which was played in Elphin on Saturday. This was a pretty good game. Boyle at times played some of their best football in terms of quality and directness of approach for spells. However this was mixed with spells of indirect football. An Aaron O’Connor goal after ten minutes gave Boyle a good platform with Boyle playing with the wind. Rory O’Donohoe had a good point on 20 minutes followed by a great Mark O’Connor point. However the tall Brian O’Gara contributed to difficulties in front of the Boyle goals and led to their goal on 25 minutes. The half time score was Boyle 1.5 Roscommon Gaels 1.4. The second half was pretty evenly contested but a Gaels goal, on seventeen minutes, after a shemozzle (spelling!) in front of the Boyle goals gave them a goal advantage. Boyle fought back to level terms but the loss of a ball going forward led to a Gael’s shot hopping over the bar as time ran out. This was followed by the insurance point almost immediately. As I said this was a good game with good football and some good displays. One has to bear in mind that Roscommon Gaels are a senior side if not a great one. So next year continues with achievable possibilities. Best for Boyle included Aaron O’Connor, Cian Smith with my ‘Man of the Match’ going to Darrren O’Connor. The team lined out as follows: T. McGarty, B. Supple, C. Boylan, C. Beirne, D. Casey, J.S. Lyons, S. Purcell, S. Tonra, C. Cox, D. O’Connor, A.0’ Connor, Mark O’Connor, R., O’Donohoe, L.Conroy, C. Smith with L. Conboy, A. Finn and P. Lavin. Thanks to the panel and the management for their committment throughout the season. It was a successful season in that they achieved one of their main targets, promotion to O'Rourke Cup football, for next year. This will provide top opposition for next year. Their hopes for championship success fell victim to score differences after an unexpected loss in their first outing to St. Barry’s despite victory in their other pool game to Fuerty. However if they can manage to do ok in the O’Rourke Cup this should provide a good base for an Intermediate challenge in 2010. Thanks also to McGovern Directional Drilling for their much appreciated sponsorship and to our loyal supporters.

November Club Meeting:
The November meeting will take place on Tuesday November the 10th at 9 pm in the Royal Hotel.

U 16s’ in Ahern Cup Final:

The U16s’ qualified for the Ahern Cup Final following a hard fought semi-final win over Eire Og in testing conditions in Boyle on Sunday. They now await the winneres of the other semi final between Elphin and St Croan’s and it is likely that this final will be played in Boyle this coming weekend. This team is also awaiting their league semi-final opponents.

U 21s’:
The U21s will meet Eire Og in the championship play-off on the weekend of November the 14th.

Juniors:
Sunday will be a big day for the Feelystone junior team as they will entertain Western Gaels in the Abbey Park at 12noon in the Division 4 North Semi Final.

U 8 Training:
