At 11.30 the U 12s' have a game v Pearses in Boyle followed by the second U 12 team. Again there is a clash of times. I suppose this is inevitable with so many games scheduled.

Lotto: The following were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Daly's Bar; John Carroll, John and Margeurita Nally, Aidan Sheerin, Carmel and Gerard Tivnan, Phonsie O'Connor, Ciaran Beirne, J. Egan, The Daly Girls, Cyril Coen and Michael Mattimoe. The house prize was won by Sarah Jane Daly. There was no jackpot winner and there will br a jackpot of €3,400 available for this Saturday night's draw which will be held in the Moylurg Inn. Team E will be in charge.
The U12s’ lost their games to St Dominick’s on Sunday in Knockcroghery. They will entertain Clan na Gael in the Abbey Park on Sunday with the ‘A’ team in action at 11.30 and the ‘B’ team throwing in at 12.45.
The U14s’ lost to St Ciaran’s in Fuerty on Thursday in the Division 1 League. They will play Clan na Gael in the Abbey Park on this Thursday at 7pm.
The U16s’ had a comprehensive win over Castlerea in the Division 1 League semi-final in Boyle on Sunday. They will meet St Croan’s in the final which will be played after the Junior Cert exams are completed.
The National Automation minor team will also be out of action until after the exams.
The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediate team had a good win against a strong St Dominick’s side in the first round of the Intermediate Championship on Sunday in Elphin. This was a good team performance and it will need to be repeated on Sunday next as they travel to Loughglynn to play Eire Og in the next round of the championship at 1pm. Eire Og will be coming off a victory over St Michael’s so they won't lack confidence.
The Club wishes to express its gratitude to Aaron Sharkey and Kevin Tiernan of the Moylurg Inn for their generous sponsorship of polo shirts for the senior panel. Congratulations to Barry Greaney and Aaron O'Connor and the Abbey Community College panel which won the Connacht Colleges Junior title with an excellent victory over Strokestown in the final in Elphin on Friday last. They had beaten Foxford Community School in the semi final of this competition on the previous Friday.
The Club extends its sympathy to Danny Burke, Castlerea on the recent death of his brother.

Boyle Ladies Club;
The U12s continue training on Mondays and Fridays . The U14 girls will play St Croans on this Friday evening in the Abbey Park at 7pm. They will train on Wednesday evening in the Warren pitch. The Junior Ladies are awaiting the fixing of their League Final. They will commence their Championship campaign this coming weekend when they will play St Mary's-see fixtures for details.

The McGovern Directional Drilling team commences its 2011 Intermediate Championship campaign in the Abbey Park, Elphin on Sunday next at 1pm when they face St Dominick’s. The Club asks all its loyal supporters to travel to Elphin to get behind the lads. Best wishes to the players and the management. Every year Boyle starts off as serious contenders for the Intermediate C’Ship. I believe that, with the young talent emerging, Boyle should be a force at the high levels for the next decade. Whether that begins on Sunday is the challenge. They have prepared well and have some good results from the Senior League but St. Dominick’s are always a difficult side and are recent Intermediate champions. It seems a pit that there are so many under-age fixtures clashing (below) with this important senior fixture but I suppose that is almost inevitable. It will engage people who would certainly have gone to Elphin.
The U12 teams lost both of their Division 1 and Division 4 league games to Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult on Sunday. Both teams are scheduled for action again on Sunday next when they make the long and early journey to Knockcroghery to play St Dominick’s. Their games are at 11.30am and at 12.45pm.
The U14s’ had a good win over Strokestown on Thursday. They will play St Ciaran’s in Fuerty on this Thursday at 7pm.
The U16s’ will play Castlerea on Sunday next at 3.30 in the Abbey Park in the League semi-final. Support is requested for this important game.
The minors beat Roscommon Gaels on Sunday week last but they lost to Castlerea on Sunday in the Division 1 League. Theyy will have no further outings until after the completion of the Leaving and Junior Cert exams.
The Club extends its good wishes for a speedy recovery to two prominent underage players Patrick Goldrick and Conor Tivnan who suffered injuries in the past week.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooneys Centra junior team is still awaiting news of its next fixture. Well done to Cian Smith who was our only representative on the Roascommon Juniors who lost out narrowly to Mayo in the Connacht Championship on Friday evening last.
The Club extends its sympathy to the Smith Family on the death of George Smith in Birr, and to the Cox and Mulhern families Boyle on the death of Mary Mulhern, nee Cox in Ballina.
The Club encourages its underage members to participate in the Boyle Community Games Athletics Sports Evening in the College Field starting at 4.30pm on this Saturday 14th May.
Didn’t St. Michael’s do well with their scrap metal collection fundraiser….€42, 000 plus they made. I wonder would anyone in Boyle GAA head that effort up. It would be a short sharp campaign. Location for deposit of material would be one of the issues of course. (T.C.).

Boyle Ladies
U12 Girls travelling to Knockcroghery on Sunday last and beat St Dominic's by
a single point. This panel now await news of their 1/4 final opponents, the 1/4
final is scheduled for 29th May-1st of June. Training continues every Monday and
Friday 6-7.00pm
U14 girls resumed training. They train every Wednesday and Friday 6-7.30pm.
Their championship begins this Friday 13 v Shannon Gaels at home.
U16 girls are still awaiting confirmation of their Division 1B Final.
Junior Ladies had a win over St Barry's last Sunday in the Division 3 League
and have qualified for the Division 3 League Final. Their championship
begins on the weekend of 22nd of May with an away fixture to St Marys.
Don't forget the "Cash for Clobber" fundraiser for the County Board, fill
bags with old clothes, shoes, curtains etc and contact Sharon Conroy, Sinead
Cummins, John Cummins or Louise Kennedy for more information. The Club has

The Senior League game V St. Dominick's, fixed for Sunday the 8th, has been postponed. I thought postponements were a major taboo. I haven't heard why yet. Cest la vie as Del Boy might say. So Sunday the 15th is 'hitting the beaches day' as Christy O'Connor might say!

Commiserations to two young stalwarts who go injured during the week, Conor Tivnan and Pat Goldrick.

I listened with mixed emotions to Willie on Shannonside on Sunday evening. It was a pot pourri of the message and the absurd. A friend who tuned in to Ros. v Longford heard about such things a the world knitting attempt and that the ‘death notices’ would be announced at half time! Tough game. Local radio certainly mixes it up.
Boyle GAA has a busy and important period coming up in the next few weeks. On Thursday the U 14s’ play Strokestown, Sunday the minors play St. Kevin’s away and on Sunday the Seniors play St. Dominick’s in the Division 1 League. Boyle play St. Dominick’s in the Intermediate C’Ship on the following Sunday in Elphin at 4 and Kilglass on Sunday the 22nd in the second ‘Ship game the third being v St. Michael’s. Playing St. Dominick’s on two consecutive Sundays in such important games is not ideal but cest la vie. Boyle has 3 wins –Strokestown/St. Faile/C’Rea in the League and 1 defeat to Western Gaels. They played well v Strokestown fair against Western Gaels, were somewhat lucky against St. Fails. Their best performance was against St. Kevin’s in Boyle. Going through the team on that occasion (excuse the abbreviation of first names) Lowe is emerging as a fine keeper, the full back line, O’Donnell and Boylan did well but Kieran Supple got injured so I hope it is not as serious as it looked. Mark O’Connor is solid at centre back with Sharkey doing good work on the wing. Midfield of Cox and Tonra had a very good outing against C’Rea and are having their best year I feel. The forwards were very good against Strokestown, dipped after that but did well against Castlerea. Mark O’Donohoe’s return against C’Rea was fine. O’Callaghan took his goal very well and his height at full forward could be the way to go with O’Connor and co feeding off. The introduction of Aaron O’Connor was very helpful in the game. So if they play as well as they did against C’Rea they can do well. Of course St. Dominick’s are always a tough nut to crack and Ml. Finneran has emerged as a fine player at county level so it will be an avoid Ml. strategy. Like a lot of clubs, I imagine, Boyle would probably not have the strength in depth of yore but we should be as well equipped as most in that respect.
I watched a fine minor team playing great football against a strong Roscommon Gaels last week. Certainly this team and the under-age work being done for some years now should mean that Boyle should be a force for the foreseeable future. So there is a good deal to look forward to if there is not too much loss through emigration or whatever. That team with McDermott, Furey, Harrington, Brennan, Goldrick and McKenna in backs. The return of Jake McCrann is great this year. If you get a chance they are a team to support and see where the skills of the like of Luka Roddy and the pace of Lavin and co. great to watch.

The National Automation minor teams had mixed luck in their meetings with Roscommon Gaels during the week. They lost the Special Minor League game while they had a well earned victory over the Roscommon Gaels in the Division I League on Friday evening last in the Abbey Park. Their next outing is on Sunday next in O'Rourke Park at 12 noon against Castlerea.

The U16s' are still awaiting details of their league semi final opponents. The U14s will play Strokestown on Thursday at 7pm in Strokestown in their Division 1 League. The U12s will play Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult at 11.30am on Sunday next. The Cooney Motors/Cooney's Centra junior team is also awaiting details of their next outing. The McGovern Directional Drilling team will play St. Dominics on Sunday next in the Abbey Park at 4pm in the O'Rourke Cup. Support would be appreciated as this is their last league outing before the championship. The U12 Girls had an unsuccessful visit to Ballintubber last week for their game against St Croans. They will play St Dominics in Knockcroghery on Sunday next at 7pm in their final group game. The quarterfinals of the U12 competition are fixed for the weekend 2th May-Ist June with the semi finals down for decision on the following weekend. The U14 girls will play the first game of the Championship on Friday 13th May at 7pm against Shannon Gaels in the Abbey Park Training resumes for this panel on Wednesday and it will continue on each Wednesday and Friday from 6-7.30pm. It is vital that all girls return to training this Wednesday. The U16 girls are still awaiting confirmation of their Division 1A Final versus Padraig Pearses which was postponed due to Pearses participation in camogie finals. The Junior Ladies will play St Barrys this weekend in their last league group game. They will commence their championship campaign on the weekend of 22nd May with an away fixture to St Mary's.
