Mon. 2pm. The Cooney Motors/ Cooney's Centra juniors had a good win over Strokestown
in the Tansey Cup in Saturday
evening last. It was disappointing that the players and supporters arrived at
Strokestown's fine new facilities, only to find that the game was moved to their
old pitch without advance notice. The Juniors are playing Elphin as I write. This team plays Elphin on Bank Holiday Monday-see results. They will be in
action again on Sunday next when
they make the long journey to Johnstown to play Clan na Gael. So a number of people are gettin plenty of game time with that team. So a number have the opportunity to push for places on the Intermediate C'Ship team for the games later on.
The McGovern
Directional Drilling team will host Oran in the Abbey Park in the O'Gara Cup on
Saturday evening next at
6.30pm.
The U12s lost to Castlerea on Sunday in the Division 1 League.
The U16s and the National
Automation Limited minors are out of action until the Junior Cert and Leaving
Cert exams are finished.
The Club extends its besr wishes to all our players who
will commence their exams this week. County Board Draw tickets are still
available from Club members. There are 33 opportunities to win substantial
prizes and the proceeds will go towards the ongoing development of underage
Gaelic games in the County.
The Club congratulates Mike Junior Smith who
celebrated a significant birthday at the weekend-in tandem with the Late Late
Show!
Sympathy is extended to Majella Dodd, the Crescent, on the death of her
brother, Sean Bruen, Ballinagare.
Ladies Club;
The U12 Girls had a good win over Roscommon Gaels in a hard fought County
Quarter final in the Abbey Park last week. They now await the fixing of their
County Semi final. The adult ladies are in preparation for their opening junior
championship game with St Ciarans on 24th June.
Go raibh maith agaibh,
Martin Dolan
