It was expected that the playing season had ended, but plans
are afoot for a special charity football match to be played at 12.30pm on St
Stephen’s Day in the Abbey Park between the Intermediate champions of 2005 and
the current champions. This should be a very special event as bragging rights
will be clearly established by whichever team comes out on top. More
importantly, the proceeds from the occasion will be donated to SHOUT (Sligo
Hospital Oncology Unit Trust) and a large attendance would be appreciated to
raise funds for this worthy cause.
The following were €20 winners at Saturday night’s Club
Lotto draw which was held in The Patrick’s Well;- Stephen Bohan, Aaron
O’Connor, Trevor Conroy, Denis Flanagan, Hugh McPadden and the Dodd Family. The
house prize was won by Michael Burke. The next draw will be held in Kate Lavin’s on Saturday night 28th
December, when the jackpot will be at €5,200 and Team ‘B’
will be in charge.
Plans are in progress for a fundraising initiative early in
the New Year.
The Club’s Annual Dinner Dance will be held in early
February--more details in the coming weeks.
The Club--Minor and Senior and Ladies Club extend Christmas
greetings to all our players, management teams, sponsors, supporters and
lotto ticket purchasers and also all who provide us with excellent media
coverage.
We urge everyone in the locality to shop local and to
support the businesses who continue to generously sponsor our Club.
Go raibh maith agaibh,
Martin Dolan
