Mon. 12.40 am
Quiz:
The Club' social event of the Christmas will take place on Wednesday 29th, in the Moving Stairs at 9.16. Quizmaster is T. C. If anyone has some clip boards they could bring them as they might be needed. If anyone has a C.D. of Christmas classics early Wed. am I could use it also for background and perhaps for questions. T.C.
The Club Lotto draw was deferred from last week until Monday night as a mark of respect to Mary Kate Hanmore, Knockavroe and Mrs Eileen Goldrick Ross, Lisserlough, both of whom passed away last week. Both ladies had strong family connections with the Club.
The Club's AGM will be held on Sunday 16th January. The Minor Club presentation night will be held on Friday 7th January in St Joseph's Hall. .
Go raibh maith agaibh,
If we are not back posting before the week end we wish all readers a Happy New Year (and prosperous!) 2011 especially those in Oz and other distant places.

Mon. 3pm.
As a result of something I said the following arrived in today's post re. Street Leagues. I only know some of those listed! I think there are a lot of aspirational names down. Never mind the quality feel the width. There are a couple of harmless rules such as: ball can be picked directly from ground as in girls football/ mark from kick out/Unltd. subs (!)/ Min. 13 in a team max = 15! / 25 mins a half. The only thing I advise, having been through a few old Street Leagues in the last century, is try and afford a 'trip to Sligo' or causing same! T.C.
It is great to see Seamie Gallagher touching down, got the last plane from London and had the last bus going west waiting for him at Dublin airport. Who says we don't provide?

Tony,
My apologies. I should have sent this to you sooner. Just saw your post on real boyle.
These are the teams and fixtures for the street league. I have also attached a spreadsheet (Beyond me converting to here, sorry!).
We are hoping to appoint “celebrity” managers for each team – would yourself (sorry, retired T.C.) and Kit be interested in this prestigious role for the “Forest View” team?

Sun. 12 midnight:
The Club Lotto draw which was scheduled for Saturday night fell victim to the inclement weather. It has been rescheduled for this Thursday night in An Craoibhin. So if you are on a premises when the sellers come in, help them out by making a fuss and asking for an envelope in a way that you could be heard!! Priming it's called!
Plans are being finalised for the Club's Christmas function -the annual quiz in the Moving Stairs on Wednesday night 29th December starting at 9.16 pm. This will be a great opportunity to get together for what will hopefully be a fun night. There will be a Club meeting on Tuesday night at 8.30 in Wynne’s Bar to make arrangements for the Quiz night where we could (hopefully) need 4 correctors, 2 scoreboard personnel, 4 distributing sheets etc, 1 floor manager plus A.N.Other. That =?
A quiz question = ‘Who played the lead in the film Lassie?
The Club AGM will be held in the Clubroom on Sunday the 16th of January. Nomination and motion forms have been circulated.
We are delighted to announce that our new clubrooms have been shortlisted for the Local Authority Members' Association (LAMA!) annual awards. The gala ceremony will take place in Dublin on the 22nd January with Miriam O’Callaghan as M.C. when the final results will be announced. Anyone who is interested in attending should contact the Secretary.
The annual St Stephen's Day Street League games are scheduled for the Abbey Park on Sunday next with games at 11.30am and 12.30pm. This is for adult players-U21s, juniors and seniors. The event is subject to a 7am pitch inspection by our pitch co-ordinators! I got very little on this in terms of team lists, captains strategy and that bumph! Ciest la vie.
The Club extends Season’s Greetings to our many players, mentors, supporters, our loyal sponsors, Club Lotto ticket purchasers and direct debit holders, lotto sellers and the publicans who host our fortnightly draw- which is the lifeblood of the club- and the local media (Ros Herald and People and the Ros. Champion and Realboyle) for their excellent coverage. Good wishes are also extended to our Club players who unfortunately (is that valid?) are abroad at present, many of whom have achieved football success this year, such as Damien Keenehan and Seamus Gallagher who won titles in Australia with Wolfe Tones in Melbourne and Roch Hanmore who is starring in both Aussie Rules and Gaelic football and Killian (with a K) Egan who is playing in Perth! (I didn’t know that). These stars will be supplemented by another X Factor star now that Karl Keenan has arrived. Success was also achieved by former Boyle Ladies football player, Aisling Dolan who won an All-Britain Championship medal with Oisin’s Club of Manchester. If I was in Melbourne I’d be in the ‘G’ on St. Stephen’s Day for the fourth test.
Regards to Paddy Conlon in Wolkingham, Austin Beisty in New York, Damien Dooley wherever, Kieran Keenehan in W.A. Tony Garvin, Ciaran Conlon, Timmy O'Dowd, Rory and Sinead on tour and that veteran of GAA teams A.N.Other. The Wiliam Hill Sport’s Book of the Year is; ‘The Club’ (Pub. By Penguin Ireland) by Christy O’Connor (not the golfer now). It is about a year in the life of St. Joseph’s Doora-Barefield club in Ennis with a resonance for all clubs. It is getting top reviews.
R.T.E. Sports Awards of 2010 is on Wednesday night at 9.35.
Since this is most likely to be the last post before Christmas, on behalf of the P.R. Dept. Martin and I extend Seasons’ Greetings to all who tune in here. We hope you all have a good, happy and safe (especially in Bondi Junction and on Bondi Beach) Christmas and that 2011 will be a bit less traumatic than the past year.

G.A.A.Data Base Unauthorised Access:
Apparently the data base of GAA membership at national level has been compromised to some degree having been accessed in an unauthorised way. The GAA has set up a dedicated information line at 1890 987 807 for any members concerned by the data breach. So if there are unsolicited calls beware. Of course this follows in every situation. There have been assurances that there is no evidence of misuse of the information and an individual has been brought in for questioning on the matter. However it is certainly not what the GAA wants to hear within such a short time of the launch of the national registration scheme.
Lotto: The following were the €20 euro winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw
which was held in the Moving Stairs on Saturday night last; Gerry
Enright, Seamus Cooney, Brid and Conor McGowan, Vincent Flanagan,
Perpetua McGee, John Finn, Michael O'Dowd, Gerry Mattimoe, Darragh
Loftus and Francis King. The house prize was won by Sean Hogan. This
Week's draw will be held in An Craoibhin on Saturday night next with Mary
Clifford's team in charge. The jackpot will be €2,300 euro.

Our instrumental music troupe of ConorTivnan and Caoimhe and Jack Morris
performed admirably in the Scor na nOg County Finals in Athlone on
Sunday but lost out to an excellent Castlerea group. All three will gain
from the experience and hopefully they will be back again next year.

The County Board AGM will be held on Saturday next and our Club Presdent
John Joe Nerney will step down as County Board President, having served
the stipulated two year term with dignity and destinction. John Joe has
served the GAA as All-Ireland winning player, trainer, adviser and
administrator since the nineteen thirties and long may he continue.
The club's annual quiz on the 29th Dec. looks like it will be a significant club social night of the Christmas season.
Congrats to our Club members who proved that their
fancy footwork on theplaying fields converts to the stage as shown in
the Celebrity Jigs and Reels last weekend. Aaron O'Connor, with Cait
Skeffington took the title while Martin Purcell and Gerry Cregg were
among the dancers while Junior Smith was equally adept as MC for the
night.
I hope the eagle (Karl Keenan) has landed and when you get settled Karl give us the lowdown on down under. T.

Tues.1am ntdwgaa: I'd just like to alert people to a T.V. programme on R.T.E. 1 at 10.40pm Tues. The title of the prog. is 'Every Heart Beats True:The Jim Stynes Story'. It is about the life and challenges of an A.F.L. hero Jim Stynes from Dublin who is fighting the big C. Everyone in Oz is aware of this Irish man and he is our greatest ambassador there.
Another ambassador of the moment is a distant cousin of Benny Morgan, Eoin Morgan from Clara, who is a member of the English Ashes team. They look like they are on their way- as I write- to a first win in the series in Adelaide. The first match at the Ashes series at the GABBA was drawn. That is the reason I'm updating this blog or whatever at this late hour. I hope Eoin gets into the starting line-up for one of the crucial later tests. The loss of Stuart Broad is a big blow to England as most of you will of course know.
Good luck to Boyle GAA stalwarts Martin Purcell, Kevin Tiernan, Lorcan Egan, Aaron O'Connor, Frankie Feighan and Gerry Cregg with the Celebrity Jigs & Reels on Friday night though I hear, in these recessionary times, the I.R.F.U. adm.resistance syndrome is kicking in!
How do F.F. get so many tickets for R.T.E.'s Frontline programme if they are down at 13% of the popular vote? (Most of the oddball comments here are T.C. originated in case people accuse Martin D. of same).
Tomorrow is Budget Day (I'd usually say D. Day but in some quarters this is interpreted as Deliverance and tomorrow certainly is not that...Doomsday perhaps...the Doomsday Book/Disc). It will probably be one of the few times, during a weekday, that I’ll be watching afternoon television.
The Club Lotto, which was due to have been held on Saturday night, last, was a victim of the weather. It has been refixed for this Saturday night in the Moving Stairs with Kathleen Hanmore's team in charge. The jackpot will be €2,200.
Best wishes to our instrumental music group of Conor Tivnan, Caoimhe Morris and Jack Morris who will represent the Club in the Scór na nOg County Finals in Dean Crowe Theatre, Athlone on Sunday next.
The Club extends its sympathy to the Toman, and Tiernan families, Boyle; the Carney family, Boheroe, Elphin and the Carney family Kilbeacanty, Gort; on their recent bereavements.(Pat Carney of Gort was an active member of the Boyle GAA Club in the 70s’ and is a regular visitor to Boyle where he has long friendships). Cecil Tiernan features in an interesting photograph of a Boyle team from the late forties.
We wish bon voyage to Karl Keenan who is emigrating to Australia for a time. Karl will be missed for his involvement as a player and his excellent work on the Minor Board and his general presence and effervescence in all activities. So Cillian Egan if you read this have things sorted when Karl arrives! We hope that he will be back among us before too long.
There was a large attendance at the Minor Board AGM which was held on Thursday night last. A very successful and eventful year was reviewed and thanks was/were (?) extended to everyone involved. The following officers were elected;- Chairperson-Gerry Cregg, Secretary-Charlie Candon, Assistant Secretary-Paul Beirne, Treasurer-Mary Halligan, Asst Treasurer-Olive Filan. The Vice Chairperson's post, which was vacated by Karl Keenan, remains to be filled. Canvassing will not disqualify. The following team managers were appointed;-U8-Ciaran O'Connor, U10-Odran Feely, U12-Gerry Cregg, U14-Kieran McKeon, U16-Jonathan Conroy and U18-Vincent Flanagan. Anyone wishing to help out the Minor Board in any way during the coming year should contact Gerry Cregg. The Senior AGM is scheduled for Sunday 16th January. The Club's Christmas Quiz get-together will be held in the Moving Stairs on Wednesday the 29th of December.
The County Board Convention takes place on Sat. Dec. 18th in Cl. Na Gael. I see that the extensive Co. Board Centre of Excellence at Oran has been passed by An Bord Pleanala. I know nil of the plans to finance the purchase and initial development of this o.t.t. development but I hope it isn’t going to become a ‘big issue’/millstone etc.
