The following were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in the Hydeaway were: Martin Supple, Aaron O'Connor, Eddie Conroy, Phonsie O'Connor, Mary Fallon, Darren Battles, Sean Kennedy, Carmel McGarry, Lainey Forde and Kieran Harte. The house prize was won by Noel Sullivan. the numbers drawn were 16/17/22/28. This week's draw will be held in Clarke’s Bar with Team ‘B’ in charge.
The U14s’ are due to play St Dominics in their postponed Division 1 League game in Knockcroghery on Thursday evening next.
The U16s’ had a hard earned win over old rivals Oran in the Div 1 League Seni-Final in the Abbey Park on Sunday evening on the scoreline of 4.6 to 3.7. This victory means they will now meet the winners of Strokestown v Ros. Gaels in the league final. Oran had beaten Boyle earlier in the league which gives an indication of the merit of last Sunday's reversal of that result. The U16 Championship is due to commence on Sunday next with a home game against Padraig Pearses-see fixtures for details.
The minors are also scheduled to play Padraig Pearses in Pairc an Phiarsigh also on Sunday-again see fixtures for details.
The McGovern Directional Drilling team was held to draw by Kilmore in the O'Rourke Cup on Sunday in Kilmore, having been well in control with five minutes remaining. This makes their final game with Western Gaels a must-win encounter in order to be in contention for the semi-finals.
*******A meeting of the Club will take place on this Tuesday night at 9pm in the Clubrooms to monitor progress on the sales of the County Board Draw tickets.
Well done to Tadhg Lowe and Donal Smith who acquitted themselves well on the Roscommon minor team which went down narrowly to Mayo in the Connacht Championship in Castlebar on Saturday evening last and also panel members Enda Smith and Ciaran O’Neill and those with the team management.
In common with all of Ireland, Boyle GAA members are deeply saddened by the passing of the great Dermot Earley. The Club extends its sympathy to his wife Mary and family and to his mother Kitty and to his brothers and sisters. Thanks are expressed to the Club members who travelled to Newbridge on Friday to participate in the guard of honour. A special mention of John Joe Nerney who, as President of the County Board, took part in the guard of honour on Friday evening.
The Club also expresses its sympathy with Imelda Fleming, National Irish Bank on the death of her mother, to John Murray, Wooden Bridge on the death of his mother Bridie Murray, Elphin, to the Brady family, Elphin on the death of Kathleen Brady and to Carmel Finneran-Klemp and the Finneran family, Boyle on the sad death of her son Sean in South Africa.Club members are reminded that there will be a Mass for Sean on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in St Joseph's Church.
Congratulations to Roch Hanmore in Oz who I’ve heard has gotten engaged to Mandy. We met them at Roch’s gran’s 100th birthday celebrations. Best wishes to you both. Sans souci.
A friend noticed that I was remiss in not mentioning the bad luck of Tadgh Egan who got a serious injury some time ago so I’m rectifying that now.
Hard luck (if that is what you can call it) to Sligo in Salthill last Sunday…..it was a painful ending…..hopefully next Sat. they will go the whole way.
I was taken with a very good Dermot Earley tribute on the Sunday Indo’s ‘Hold the Back Page’ by Eamon Sweeney x Gurteen and a former St. Mary’s College student.

Go raibh maith agaibh,

The Feelystone team lost by an eight point margin to Creggs in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening in their last game in the league section of the Tansey Cup.This defeat leaves them depending on results elsewhwere to determine whether they will make the play-off stages of the competition. This was a very disappointing and frustrating performance.
The McGovern Directional Drilling team is due to play Kilmore in Kilmore on Sunday next in the O'Rourke Cup at 1pm.
The U14s will travel to Knockcroghery to play St. Dominics on Thursday evening in the Division 1 Championship.
There will be an U16 inter-county game in the Abbey Park involving Roscommon on Wednesday evening.
There will be a Club meeting on Wednesday evening in the Clubroom to progress the sale of County Board Draw tickets. All are asked to attend.
Best wishes are extended to the County minor team and their management in their Connacht Championship game versus Mayo on Saturday evening next in Castlebar. The Club extends good luck especially to our four representatives-Tadhg Lowe, Ciaran O'Neill and Donal and Enda Smith.
Congratulations
are extended to the County seniors on their victory over Leitrim in the sunshine of the Hyde on Sunday and especially to Sean Purcell and David Casey and congrats to David on his well deserved ‘Man of the Match’ award.
I believe the girls U 12 team had a very good win last week.
Congrats also to a long-term player with Boyle GAA teams down the years, Adrian King on his fine achievement in winning in the musical awards as outlined on relaboyle home page. Well done Adrian and thorougly deserved and also to Frank and all at the Musical Society.
Best wishes to Dessie as he sets off for Mt. Blanc this week.

Dessie McLoughlin expects to be nearly 'on top of the world' on Sunday June the 27th. He has been training intensively for some time to climb Mt. Blanc. This is a climb in aid of the Western Alzheimer's Association, a cause that has been starkly highlighted by Michael Noonan and others in recent times. Dessis has been a rock of Boyle GAA all his life and we are asking all GAA people to support him in this effort. On Saturday night next there is the opportunity to support a big Irish night of music and song and craic in The Moving Stairs starting at 9.30 or if you cannot attend contact Des at Trojan, Boyle or even myself T.C.

Boyle play Creggs on Sat. evening next in the Tansey Cup at 7 in Boyle. I was looking through the Tansey Cup table and wondered if we have an ambivalent attitude towards this league?
I watched the junior game versus St. Joseph’s last Saturday evening and there were times when I was pulling my hair out and I have witnesses! As somebody who did some coaching, in the distinguished company of Sean Young, there were some issues present which led to my hair-raising antics and I might as well get them off my chest;
1. The looping high ball forward impersonating a pass or if meant as a score as if there was a bonus point for hitting it 20/30 feet over the crossbar.
2. Kicking a free wide ‘on the wrong (near) side’. Now anyone can kick a free wide but the message is put it wide on the ‘far’ side….if you follow me.
3. ‘Securing’ the ball as opposed to having it bop around like a hot potato. There are two fine examples of people who do actually ‘secure’ the ball on the team i.e. John Healy and Donal Kelly.
4. The famous ‘hospital’ pass….if anyone does not know what that is call 999.
5. The solo run …the height of the toe tap. Perhaps you might trip across archive film of Jimmy Barry Murphy circa ’73 to see a really economic version of that. The second element of the solo run is the hop. I remember Dermot Earley often getting say maybe a dozen yards by hopping the ball solidly way out in front of him with it hopping at the right height for collection…..if he had the space of course.
6. I was always an advocate of the ‘quick’ free… but when it goes wrong it hurts.
7. I’ll end this coaching corner (cut out the corners) with: consider-as I used to say to Killian (with a K) Egan- giving it to the shooters………kicking it in the direction of the goalposts is problematic. Though when I said this in another context I was told; ‘It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive’.
p.s. Practise weak foot, practise weak foot, practise......and Fisted points count......

All Boyle GAA people are asked to support the Irish Night fundraiser in the Moving Stairs on Saturday night next, from 9.30, for Dessie McLoughlin’s climb of Mont Blanc in aid of the Western Alzheimer’s Association. Please spread the word on that. Dessie has been one of the great Boyle GAA people, as a player, manager official and referee mentor (!), since he first started out with Sean Young and Co. in the mid seventies. He is also a great supporter of many causes such as the Mental Health Association in Roscommon and the Plunkett Home and many others anonymously. So this is our opportunity to show him our support and recognition for his major contribution in the past and ongoing. The Alzheimer’s cause is a most worthy one as has been highlighted recently.
Lotto:The following were €20 winners at the Club's most recent draw which was held in An Craoibhín recently;-Vincent McDonagh, Canon Gerry Hanly, John Joe Carty, Nuala and Gerry Morris, Owen Garvin, Niall O'Donoghue, Caroline Carty, Clive Roe, Cecil Tivnan and Mary Cox. The house prize was won by Mary McDermott. As announced last week, the jackpot of €4,200 was won by Monica and Michael Gilmartin. This week's draw will be held on Saturday night next in the Hideaway and Team A will be in charge.
The U12s are due to play Padraig Pearses in Pairc an Phiarsaigh on Sunday next at 12 noon in the Division 1 League. The U12 B team were to play St Barrys on Monday evening.
The U14s had good win over Padraig Pearses in the Championship in the Abbey Park on Thursday last. They will travel to Roscommon to play Roscommon Gaels in the next round on this Thursday evening at 7pm.
The McGovern Directional Drilling team secured a hard earned draw against St Joseph’s in the Tansey Cup on Saturday evening last in the Abbey Park. Victory would have brought them nearer a play-off position. They will play Creggs on Saturday evening at 7pm in the Abbey Park in the last game of the league section. This now becomes a must-win game in order to be sure of making the play-offs.
Well done to the pupils and teachers in Scoil na nAingeal Naofa on winning the All Ireland Junior School Wardens competition. They are coached by teacher Fiona Keenan and Garda Fergal O'Donnell. Hopefully this is a good omen for Fergal as he leads his troops into battle against Leitrim in the Hyde on Sunday. Good luck to him and the lads and especially our Boyle connections-Stephen Bohan, Joe Sweeney, Boyle and County goalkeeping coach, and our panel members Sean Purcell and David Casey.

They are due to commence their championship campaign against Padraig Pearses in the Abbey Park on this Thursday evening. Support would be appreciated.
The McGovern Directional Drilling team will play St Josephs in the Tansey Cup in the Abbey Park on Saturday evening at 7pm. A positive result in this game should leave them in a play-off position.
Lost @ Found and still lost! Dept.: Most of the Club jersies with the David O'Connor Auctioneering logo have been located, but there are still a sizeable number missing.
