Mon. 9 am....As can be seen from the list below all teams are in action in the near future.

Boyle U10s had a very enjoyable blitz with neighbours St Michaels in the Abbey Park on Friday evening last.

The U11s are in preparation for the upcoming Keenan Cup.

The U12s are in preparation for the championship.

The U14s will shortly begin their Garda Cup campaign.

The U16s  lost to St Brigids in the Division 1 League last week. Their next outing will be in the Championship on Monday 12th August when they will take on Roscommon Gaels in Lisnamult.

The National Automation Limited Minors are in preparation for the forthcoming championship.

The Cooney Motors/ Cooneys Centra juniors will play Eire Og in the Junior B Championship on Saturday evening next at 7pm.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates are scheduled to play Clan na Gael B in the final round of the O’Gara Cup on this Tuesday evening in Johnstown, but this will be confirmed.

Good luck to the Roscommon Minors in the All Ireland Quarter Final in Tullamore on Monday next, and especially to our player Evan McGrath and to our other connections-Manager Fergal and to his assistants Stephen Bohan and David Casey.

Tickets are available from Club officers for the Roscommon GAA Race Day at Roscommon Racecourse on 6th August. Tickets cost €25 and this includes a free bet and food. This event proved to be most enjoyable last year and Boyle Club members are encouraged to go along for a great evening’s entertainment.

Thanks is extended to Michael Furey for his irrigation work in the Abbey Park prior to the recent O’Gara Cup game against Padraig Pearses.

The Club extends its sympathy to the Beirne family, Ballymore on the death of Ursula, mother of Club stalwart Paul, and grandmother of Intermediate team players Cian and Ciaran.

Boyle Ladies

Boyle Ladies had a great Intermediate Championship win over Padraig Pearses in Woodmount on Friday evening last. They are due to play Kilbride in their next outing--details to be confirmed.

The Ladies Club also extends its sympathy to its Intermediate Team Manager Paul Beirne and minor player Niamh on the death of Paul’s mother and Niamh’s grandmother Ursula.

The following were €20 winners in the Club Lotto Draw which was held recently in The Patrick’s Well; Michael and Sheila Furey, Carmel Goldrick, Canon Gerry Hanley, Christy Wynne, Paddy McKeon and Siobhan Conroy. The house prize was won by Jason Harrington. The numbers drawn were: 5/7/18/25. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at €4,100 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in Kate Lavins, with Team ‘A’ in charge.
On the playing fields, the U14s’ lost to a strong Western Gaels/Ballinameen outfit.
The U16s’ will have played St Brigids in Kiltoom on Monday evening in the Division 1 League.
The National Automation Limited Minors are in preparation for their upcoming championship.
The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors  were due to commence their North B Championship against St Croans in Enfield on Saturday evening next, but Croans have withdrawn from the competition, thus leaving Boyle with a first round bye.
The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates had a great one point O’Gara Cup win over Castlerea St Kevin’s in O’Rourke Park on Wednesday evening last, thus taking them to the top of the league table. They hosted Padraig Pearses in the Abbey Park on Saturday, short at least five regulars and suffered a narrow defeat. This enabled Pearses to leapfrog Boyle at the top of the table and secure promotion. We congratulate them on their achievement. Boyle have a final opportunity to gain the second promotion spot when they face Clan na Gael ‘B’ Team in Johnstown on Tuesday week 30th July. Three games in a week is a hectic schedule and even professional teams wouldn’t be happy with it and also the consideration that there are swathes of the summer when there are not meaningful games.
The Club extends its thanks to Ml. Furey for his irrigation work which left the Abbey Park in perfect condition for the Pearses game.
Commiserations to the Roscommon minors who surrendered their Connacht Title on Sunday. They had real chances to draw or even win the game especially towards the end but the necessary sharpness close to goal and the Mayo defence keep them out. Hopefully they can return to winning ways against Kildare in the upcoming Quarter Final. That will not be easy as Kildare are regarded as being a very strong outfit.
All club players (adult and underage-male and female) are asked to collect tops of Lucozade Sports bottles, so that when a required total is collected, they may be exchanged for club sportswear.
The Minor Club wishes to thank all who supported the “ Predict a Score” competition. Details of the outcome will be provided next week.
Ladies Club
The Intermediate Ladies will have their next Championship outing on this Friday evening when they take on Padraig Pearses in Woodmount.

Mon. 1.40...It was a relatively successful weekend on the playing fields for Boyle teams. The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors had a convincing win over Kilmore in the Division 4 League. Their next action will be in the Championship against St Croans in Enfield on Saturday 27th in Enfield. Our U12swill commence their summer league campaign in August.

The U14s game versus St Faithleachs didn’t take place as scheduled last week.

The U16s didn’t have their scheduled outing against St Brigids on Sunday as the U16 fixtures involving members of the County panel were postponed.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates had a convincing win over St Brigids B in the Dvision 2 League (O’Gara Cup) in the Abbey Park in blistering sunshine on Sunday. They have a busy week ahead of them as they will play Castlerea St Kevins in the next round of the League on this Wednesday at 8pm and they will entertain Padraig Pearses in Boyle on Saturday evening at 7pm. Support for both of those important games would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks is extended to Kevin Mullen of Abbeytown Express for his sponsorship of water for the Club’s games. This is especially appreciated in the current beautiful weather conditions.

Young Club members (male and female) who propose to move on to third level education in September are advised that applications are being sought by Roscommon County Council for the Dermot Earley Bursary. Please check the Council website for details.

Best wishes are extended to Fergal O'Donnell, Stephen Bohan, James O'Boyle et al of the Management and our player rep. Evan McGrath with the Roscommon Minors who face Mayo in the Connacht Minor Final in Castlebar on Sunday next at 12 noon. Roscommon minors have a very good recent record in the Connacht Final, with top Boyle representation, but Sunday will be a big test v Mayo at home. So hopefully they will keep the record going.
Best wishes are also extended to Roscommon Minor Ladies  and to the Boyle representatives on the panel as they play Clare in the All Ireland Semi Final at the weekend. Congratulations are extended to the Roscommon U16s and our representative on the panel, on winning the Connacht title at the weekend. Congratulations and best wishes are extended to  Catherine Young (daughter of Sean and Ann) and Conor Lynch who were married at the weekend.

The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates commence what will be a very busy few weeks on Sunday next when they will entertain St Brigids ‘B’ Team in the O’Gara Cup in the Abbey Park at 2.30pm. When?

The Club wishes to acknowledge the honesty of one of our supporters who found a sum of money which had been lost by a St. Croans supporter. The money will be returned to its owner.

Two pairs of sunglasses were found in the Abbey Park at the weekend. The owners can reunited with their owners by contacting any of the Club officers.

Well done to Enda Smith who made his starting championship debut with the Roscommon seniors against Tyrone on Saturday evening last. The Club compliments John Evans and his charges on an excellent, albeit a narrowly losing performance against Tyrone. This performance give great hope for the future.

Congratulations are extended to Elaine Purcell on her marriage to Colm Taheny and to Jonathan Conroy and his bride Edel. Bon vogage is extended to the Young family as they leave for Italy this week for the wedding of Catherine and Conor.

I hope that Sean (Digger) Duignan’s team did well in the Birmingham C’Ships on Sunday as Sean had to return fast after attending a wedding in Boyle over the week-end.

Ladies Club;
The Boyle Ladies suffered an agonising two point defeat to Eire Og in Loughlynn on Sunday last in the Intermediate Championship in what was an excellent encounter where the lead changed hands on a number of occasions. Boyle’s young team, despite two narrow championship defeats, is adjusting well to life in the intermediate grade and no doubt the experience will stand to them in their remaining fixtures.
