Monday July 8th. 9 am.

The following were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in Clarkes’ Bar;- David O’Connor, Michael O’Dowd, Martin Henry, Patsy Downes, Mary Doherty and Michael Noone. The jackpot wasn’t won and it will stand at €4,000 for next Saturday night’s draw which will be held in The Patrick’s Well, with Team ‘E’ in charge.

Almost 100 boys and girls enjoyed a week of training in skills of Gaelic football in the Abbey Park, as well as the fun and games that are associated with the annual Cúl Camps.

Our U14s lost to a much stronger Shannon Gaels /Kilmore in the Division 2 Championship in Boyle on Monday evening last. They will play St Faithleachs in their next Championship outing on this Thursday in Ballyleague at 7pm.

The U16s will play St Brigids in the Division 1 League in Kiltoom on Sunday next at 11.30am.

The National Automation Limited minors suffered a 4 points loss to St Croans on Friday evening in the  Abbey Park in an exciting and close encounter.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney’s Centra Juniors had a good win over St Michaels on Friday evening last in Cootehall in the Division 4 League. They will play Kilmore in their next outing in this competition at home on Wednesday evening at 8pm in Boyle. (Anyone a team list or photograph?)

The McGovern Directional Drilling Intermediates commence what will be a very busy few weeks on Sunday next when they will entertain St Brigids ‘B’ Team in the O’Gara Cup in the Abbey Park at 2.30pm. When?

 The Club wishes to acknowledge the honesty of one of our supporters who found a sum of money which had been lost by a St. Croans supporter. The money will be returned to its owner.

Two pairs of sunglasses were found in the Abbey Park at the weekend. The owners can reunited with their owners by contacting any of the Club officers.

Well done to Enda Smith who made his starting championship debut with the Roscommon seniors against Tyrone on Saturday evening last. The Club compliments John Evans and his charges on an excellent, albeit a narrowly losing performance against Tyrone. This performance give great hope for the future.

Congratulations are extended to Elaine Purcell on her marriage to Colm Taheny and to Jonathan Conroy and his bride Edel. Bon vogage is extended to the Young family as they leave for Italy this week for the wedding of Catherine and Conor.

I hope that Sean (Digger) Duignan’s team did well in the Birmingham C’Ships on Sunday as Sean had to return fast after attending a wedding in Boyle over the week-end.

Ladies Club;
The Boyle Ladies suffered an agonising two point defeat to Eire Og in Loughlynn on Sunday last in the Intermediate Championship in what was an excellent encounter where the lead changed hands on a number of occasions. Boyle’s young team, despite two narrow championship defeats, is adjusting well to life in the intermediate grade and no doubt the experience will stand to them in their remaining fixtures.

 Go raibh maith agaibh,

Martin Dolan
