Report from a County GAA Meeting in Roscommon Thursday May 14th:

1.Tickets for Connacht C’Ship games are to be sold by clubs. Tickets are to be booked by the clubs or can be accessed from the Connacht Council web site. While it cannot be said officially there is the probability of tickets being available outside the ground on the day. Seated €30. Terrace €20. Under 16s’ €5. (Group tickets for U 16s’ are available at 50cent per ticket. Early booking of these tickets is advisable and is an economy worth thinking of). €10 refunds for OAPs’ and students at designated stiles…….on terrace tickets only.

2. Membership forms have been sent out to clubs on-line a month ago. The old system of say last year has gone.

3. County Board Tickets:
Returns to Clubs the first ten tickets over quota 25%
…………………next ten…………………….30%
………………….next ten…………………….35%
…………………next ten……………………..40% and increases by 5% for every ten after that.
There was also a hand out showing the returns from last year to clubs from €38,000 to St. Dominick’s to NIL for Boyle!

4. Sponsorship for County teams has seriously declined.

5. There was an outline on the requirement to present team lists as per rule and properly.

6. Along with the National Strategic Plan ’09 /’13 there will be a similar County Strategic Plan.

7. Games presentation of games and especially the issue of providing teams for programmes and playing teams as per number on the programme.

8. The lack of enough referees and that maybe in these recessionary times some people will come on board since the remuneration is not bad.

9. Players injury scheme cost €10.7 million in ’08 an increase since 3.5 in ’05. €31m in 5 years. It is not a substitute for private health insurance. The 60 day rule is sacrosanct. There may be a workshop for Insurance Officers. Cost €1000 per adult team; €200 per under-age team. Note under age blitz teams etc. need must be members of the scheme up to a max. of €1200 per club (I presume for under-age).

Accidents (not just playing ones) must be reported and reported accurately even if they are not serious etc. as per health and safety.

11. The Co. Secretary requested two contact email addresses from clubs.
