Top Corner:
La na gClub
: Because this is the 125th Anniversary of the GAA, May 12th has been nominated as La nag Club or a celebratory day for GAA clubs throughout the country. We are now putting together a two hour programme for that day and we ask all teams, managers, officials --past and present-- and supporters to come on board. We are looking for ideas and support so if you have any ideas get in touch here. Apparently there is also a GAA 125 Schools Day listed for Friday April 24th.

Greetings to our constituents in Australia and abroad generally. I am told that this col. is tuned into there. Greeting in particular to Killian Egan (remember Killian with a K, I believe he has had trouble with that down the years like O’Donohoe and Keenehan).

€100 tickets for the County Board Draw are now being sold. The club has a quota to achieve so make sure if you buy one you get it from a Boyle GAA member and if you can sell a couple all the better. County Board Puncherstown Race Day Thursday April 30th

There is a First Aid course being organised for Saturday May 23rd. Anyone interested should give their name to the Secretary soon, as there is a facility for just a certain number.
The Top Corner is getting full so we’ll leave it at that.

Lotto:
There was no jackpot winner in the last Club Lotto draw which was held in the Moylurg Inn. The numbers drawn were 10/13/14/25. The €20 winners were Eugene and Mary Halligan, Paddy and Monica Daly, Eileen and Gerry Callaghan, Tom Callan, Pat and Liz Gannon, Pat Roddy, Tom Connealy, Thomas Brady, John Brennean and Padraig McCrann. The house prize was won by Kieran McCrann. This week’s draw will be held in Dodd’s and Team E under Pat Goldrick will be in charge. Team ‘E’ in the newly revised teams is made up of: Pat Goldrick, Peter Gavigan, Gerard Sheerin, Karl Keenan, Laura Gannon, Sinead Cummins, Tony Conboy, and John Cummins. Meet in Dodd’s at 11.00. The jackpot will be €1,200. It has been won five times in the last year or so.

U 14 s’ Feile Disappointment:
The Under 14s’ (see pic lower down) had an aganising 1 point defeat to Strokestown in the Feile semi-final on Wednesday last. The windy conditions made for a lottery of a game which could have gone either way. There was a thrilling finale with Boyle scoring two goals but this left them still one point short. Well done to the team and their mentors. Best wishes to Strokestown who play Clann na Gael in the final. They have a number of very good players and should go all the way to win the final and thus qualifying to represent the County in the Feile Finals.
The Under 14s’ now have the league to look forward to and they will be back in action in their first league game on this Thursday when they entertain Oran at 7pm.

U 16s’:
The Under 16s’ will play Michael Glavey’s in the championship on Tuesday the 28th in Ballinlough.
Minors:
The ‘Think Energy’ minor team went down to a stronger Castlerea outfit in the Abbey Park on Sunday in a close encounter.

Boyle 2.21 Clann na Gael (Seconds) 0.6.
The McGovern Directional Drilling team stay at the top of the O'Gara Cup table following two comprehensive wins during the week. They beat St Barry’s in Tarmonbarry on Monday last on a scoreline of 4.17 to 0.4 (see last week’s post) and they followed up with a 2.21 to 0.6 win over Clann na Gael in the Park on Sunday. This was a flawless display. There were no weak displays but a number of outstanding ones. Among those were Conor Boylan at full back, Seanie Purcell at centre back Mark O’Connor wing forward and Damien Keenehan at centre-forward. At half-time Boyle led by 1.12 to no score without a wide or a really missed opportunity. Boyle got a little sloppy early in the second half but got going again and cruised home. Clann were surprisingly weak. Just one crib this evening I thought that there was a slowness to avail of the opportunity to use substitutes earlier and perhaps rest the likes of Seanie and Damien as well as giving others reasonable game time.
The team; T. McGarty, B.Supple, C. Boylan, C.Beirne, J.S.Lyons, S. Purcell, Ml. Paul Gilmartin (0.1), C.Cox, S. Tonra (0.1), M.O’Connor (1.6 incl frees), D. Keenehan (1.5), A. O’Connor (0.3), K. McLoughlin ( 0.1 fisted), R. O’Donohoe (?), C. Smith (0.3) with T. Egan (birthday soon), A. Finn, D. O’Connor (0.1 fisted), D. Callaghan, D. Kelly with L.Conroy and Karl Keenan.
Their next outing will be a visit to Hyde Park on Saturday next at 6.30pm to take on a strong Roscommon Gael outfit. This will be third gear, up a hill stuff.

Best wishes are extended to intermediate team Captain and Vice Captain, Brian Supple and Mark O'Connor respectively who were appointed at the weekend.
