The following were €20 winners at the most recent Boyle Club Lotto draw which was held in Clarkes' Bar;- Christy Grehan, Ann Conboy, John and Olivia Kelly, Karl Keenan, Pat and Liz Gannon, Maisie Mc Tiernan, Tom Conneally, Cecil Tivnan, Lorcan Egan and Vincent Egan. The house prize was won by Irene Tivnan. The numbers drawn were 7/8/17/25. The jackpot wasn't won and it will stand at €2,800 for this Saturday night's draw which will be held in The Abbey Bar with Team 'C' in charge.
The upcoming Boyle Men's Club and Ladies Club Dinner Dance to be held in Kilronan Castle on Saturday night 9th February is proving to be a very popular attraction with tickets in great demand. Intending patrons are advised to book their tickets with any of the following as soon as possible as spaces are limited;- Karen Brogan, Mary Clifford, Martin Dolan, Laura Gannon, Kathleen Hanmore, Sabrina Kerins, Emer Killilea, Aidan Lavin, Vivienne Moran and Mary Smith. It promises to be a very special night with a special guest who is a current All Ireland Football Champion and current All Star. Medals will be presented to the Boyle Ladies panel who won the County Junior A Title in 2012 and who will be playing Intermediate Championship this year. Medals will also be presented to the Boyle Minor men who were runners-up in the County Minor Division 1 Championship. The players of the year in the various adult teams, the club person of the year and the Hall of Fame awards will be announced and their awards will be presented on the night.
The Boyle GAA Club (adult male) AGM attracted a large and representative attendance to the Clubroom on Sunday evening last.Chairperson Aidan Lavin welcome the attendance and thanked all who contributed in any way to making 2012 a successful year for the Club. He availed of the occasion to thank the entire "GAA Family" in Boyle and within the wider region for the assistance that was extended to himself and his wife Trudy and daughter Vicky following the sad passing of his son Eoin in August last. He said that they would be eternally grateful and appreciative of the respectful and skilful way in which everyone rallied to their assistance.
The Secretary, Kathleen Hanmore, reported in detail on the highs and lows for the Club in 2012. The highs being the performance of the minors in reaching the County Division 1 Final, the U21s in reaching the final stages of the Division 1 U 21 Championship, the steady progress that was made by the Intermediate team, and the representation of the Club by several players on the various County panels as well as the many Club members who participated on County management panels and as County officials. She highlighted the lows as being the death of Eoin Lavin, a promising young footballer who had made County U15 and U16 panels, and the deaths of a number of other relatives of Club members and officials.
The Treasurer, Mary Smith, reported in detail on the Club's income and expenditure and on the difficulties in raising enough funds to run the Club in the current difficult times. She paid tribute to our mains senior club sponsors- McGovern Directional Drilling, Cooney Motors,/Cooney's Centra, Kieran Phelan & National Automation, Brogans and Natural Options Pharmacies and to our loyal patrons who purchase our Lotto tickets fortnightly. The Club also thanked Aaron Sharkey of the Moylurg Inn for his assistance with the provision of food for players. Joint PROs Martin Dolan and Tony Conboy thanked the Roscommon Herald, Roscommon People, Sean O'Dowd of Realboyle and the Roscommon County Board for their excellent and ongoing coverage of the Club's activities. They also informed the meeting that the Club is now using Facebook and Twitter to provide information.
The Registrar Brian Supple outlined tha importance of early registration of all players, officials and club members. Registration fees were fixed at €80 per adult player €50 per minor and U21 player and €20 for adult non-players. He highlighted that players must be registered before commencement of training or playing matches so as to comply with insurance requirements as well as to comply with GAA requirements. Full details of officers elected and team management appointments will be published next week.
