Sun. 10.57pm. The following were €20 winners at the most recent Club Lotto draw which was held in the Moylurg Inn; Paul and Anita Kearney, Brian Supple, Dessie McLoughlin, Lorcan Egan, Aiden Sheerin, Sinead Cummins, Suzanne McTiernan, Padraig McGivney, Enda Commons and A. Wheeler. The house prize was won by Tomas Cooney. There was no jackpot winner and a jackpot of €3,500 will be on offer for this week's draw which will be held in Dodd’s on Saturday night next. Team ‘A’ will be in charge. There was mixed results for our adult teams during the week.
The Cooney Motors/ Cooney's Centra junior team, sporting their new jersies, had a good win over Kilbride in Kilbride on Wednesday night last in the Tansey Cup. They will have a few weeks to await their next outing in this competition. The McGovern Directional Drilling team went down to Elphin in their O'Rourke Cup meeting in the Orchard Park on Sunday. The score was Elphin 2.9 Boyle 1.7. (I was not able to go to this game so I’ll have to wait until reports drift in. They will make the long trip to Woodmount on Sunday next to take on Padraig Pearse's in the next round of this competition at 2pm. while Elphin would have been regarded as pretty firm favourites today (as county finalists last Autumn) Pearse's should be a more even bet.
The U16s’ and the National Automation minors will have no activity until after the completion of the State examinations. Well done to those who have received third level exam results’ already. The U14s’ will host St Brigid’s on Friday next in the Abbey Park at 7pm while the U12s’ will travel to Kiltoom on Sunday next to take on St Brigid’s at 11.30am.
There will be a photoshoot for our various sponsors in the Clubroom on this Tuesday evening at 7.45pm. A club meeting will take place in the clubroom (perhaps we get a finer title for this venue) on Wednesday evening at 8.30 to consider the making of arrangements for the forthcoming senior and intermediate championship double header which the Club will host on Saturday the 18th of June-all members are requested to attend. Boyle play St. Michael’s on that evening at 5.30.
All users of the Abbey Park are reminded that it is a litter free zone and those in charge of teams should ensure that all plastic bottles are collected, emptied and placed in the recepticles that are provided, before leaving the grounds. (Plastic bottles could be emptied of their contents. I (T.C.) ask people to be a bit more discerning re. what goes in ‘recyclables’ and ‘rubbish’ bins).
Congratulations are extended to Breege and Conor McGowan on the birth of their baby daughter and to Ann and Peter Gavigan on the birth of their baby son. Sympathy is extended to the Lavin familiies, Ballymore and Boyle on recent bereavements.
Boyle Ladies Club;
The Junior Ladies drew with Tulsk in the first round of the County Championship at a wet and windy Tulsk on Friday evening last. Best wishes are extended to our U14 girls who will play Clan na Gael in the County Championship Quarter Final on this Wednesday evening in Johnstown. Support will be appreciated in this important game. The U14 girls continue their training every Wednesday and Friday. Congratulations to the Roscommon U14 girls who won the All Ireland 1B Semi Final against Meath on Sunday last. They will meet Tipperary in the All Ireland Final. Boyle connections include panelists Melissa Goldrick, Sarah Halligan, Melissa Mattimore and Sinead Meehan and team manager Pat Leonard.
