Wed. 5.15......Ireland defeated England 329 for 7 in probably the greatest Irish team sporting victory ever in Bangalore, India in the Cricket World Cup. If you see this early, the highlights are on BBC 2 at 10 pm tonight, Wed.
Tues. 10.00 pm.The Sec. of the Minor Club has circulated Garda vetting forms to the managers of teams. While many of the people have completed the process last year there are always NEW coaches coming on board and they have to be aware that Garda vetting is an obligatory requirement for any such coaches with ANY under 18 year olds even if these U18s arer playing for the senior club.
ntdwgaa: I see Chelsea have their own Goodfellow,Joe Pesci!
It was sad to see Wicklow T.D. Dick Roche lose (lose not loose) his seat not once but twice on Sunday wasn't it?
I am really sad to see the demise of the Greens but as J.F.K. said: "He who rides the tiger often ends up inside." (Should the quotation marks be inside or outside the full stop ?)
Monday Feb. 28th 1.30 pm
Friday March 11th there will be a Quiz in aid of the Brisbane GAA appeal with T.C. promoter and quizmaster. So spread the word on that, especially amongst the GAA fraternity in and in other clubs around Boyle.

Congratulations to former Boyle GAA legend Frankie Feighan on being re-elected to the Dail with an impressive vote last Friday. One should also not the role of GAA stalwart/historian et al Tom Mullaney in all that.

There will be an important meeting in the Clubroom on Friday next 4th March to review sales of tickets for the forthcoming draw for weekend away in New York for the upcoming Roscommon v New York Connacht Championship game. All who have been allocated tickets are asked to attend with proceeds of sales or unsold tickets. Those who cannot attend should inform the Treasurer in advance regarding amounts sold.
The 2011 playing season commenced at the weekend with mixed results for our two teams that were in action. The minors had a convincing win over Clan na Gael in the Division 1 league in the Abbey Park on Sunday. The final score was Boyle 3.12 Clann na Gael 0.14.Boyle led by 1.7 to 0.6 at half time. This was a good win for Boyle over a solid Clann side. Hopefully this win will cement a good campaign for the side. There is a core of very good players here and they will be the nucleus of Boyle adult teams from a couple of years hence.

The Cooney Motors/Cooney's Centra junior team lost to a stronger Michael Glavey’s outfit (their first team) in Ballinlough on Saturday.
The McGovern Directional Drilling senior team will entertain Strokestown in the first round of the O'Rourke Cup competition on Sunday next in the Abbey Park. This is a really interesting game so your support is very much encouraged.

Thanks is extended to all team mangers who ensure that the dressing rooms are left in a clean and tidy condition after games and training sessions and those who may have overlooked doing so are asked to include this in their schedules.
The Club will be participating in the Senior Scór County Finals in Ballinaheglish on Saturday night next.
Secondary schools students from the Club area are reminded that the Roscommon County Board are offering a number of grants to students who wish to improve their knowledge of Irish by enabling them to attend a Gaeltacht. Those who are interested are advised that further details may be obtained on the County Board website at irishculturalofficer.roscommon@gaa.ie .
Congratulations are extended to St Brigid’s on their excellent performance in their victory over Nemo Rangers in the All Ireland Club Semi Final on Saturday last. It was a great game and easy to change from the mediocre Ireland v Scotland stuff. The Saturday papers and the coverage of GAA games generally is getting hammered in the national media by the 'fashionable Celtic Tiger rugby and English soccer'. Here's hoping for ultimate success on 17th March for Brigid's. The Dublin Croke Park experiment seems to be a great success so fair play to them.
The Club extends its sympathy to the Flanagan Family, Rockingham on the death of Pat Flanagan. Pat played himself for St. Michael’s and was regarded as a good uncompromising player. His sons Xavier and Mel played for Roscommon in the sixties/early seventies, of which Pat was very proud. Mel was an outstanding player at St. Nathy’s and with Roscommon.
ntdwgaa per T.C.: This is the week of the ‘agony and the x td’. My faith in the Irish electorate has been somewhat restored. They must now be the most informed electorate anywhere. One now encounters political commentators and 'economists' on every corner, pitch and bar stool. One colourful T.D. of oriental hue may now have gone through the 'phases' of burning weed, to burning turf towards burning bondholders. If you want to contact him press the 'hash' key on your mobile. So hopefully there will be some 'openess and transparency' with the new regime. If the new Government does not bring the people with them they-the electorate- can change direction like a bog fire. But I'm sure they know that as the Boyle Town's Commissioner said to Maureen O'Sullivan.
Don't forget the Ireland versus England game in the World Cup in Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangolore on Wednesday at 9am G.M.T. There was a cracking draw there on Sunday between England and India.
One of the games of the year Clarenbridge v De La Salle Waterford in the All-Ireland club hurling semi-final the 19/20th.
