There was a great turn-out at the Minor Presentation Night on Friday last the 14th in St. Joseph’s Hall. This included a fine turn out of players and their parents. This is only proper considering the efforts the Minor Committee went to with the recognition of as many players as could be and the general feel-good factor that emanated. So now attention focuses on the coming season.
Among the main award winners were the following:
The U 8 and U 10 teams were the recipients of Certificates of Participation.
U 12: The ‘Most Improved Player’ was Jonah Tighe with the Top Player award going to Conor Deary, recognising the need to disperse these awards. The under 12 team received training tops sponsored by Kieran McKeon Tyre and Service Centre, Deerpark.
U 14: The ‘Most Improved Player’ went to Dermot O’Driscoll with the Top Player award going to Dylan Mattimoe. The U 14 team received T. shirt vouchers again sponsored by Kieran McKeon, Tyre and Service Centre, Deerpark.
U 16: The ‘Most Improved Player’ award went to Jordan Nally (an all-round sportsman) while the ‘Top Player’ award went to Brian Furey. The U 16 team had received fine kit bags a while ago sponsored by Clifford Haulage and Gas. The U 16s’ received their County ‘A’ Championship runners-up medals; their League winning medals; having already being presented, on the day, with the Ahern Cup medals and a fine team picture.
U 18: The ‘Most Improved Player’ award went to Luke Harrington with the ‘Top Player’ award going to Donal Smith. The Minors also received their County Minor ‘A’ runners-up medals.
The head coach of each team Gerry Cregg, Bernie Shannon, Jonathan Conroy and Vinnie Flanagan addressed the gathering thanking players for their commitment, parents for their assistance especially in the area of transport and support and the training colleagues.

Joe Sweeney of the County Senior Management team also addressed the attendance and spoke of optimism for the year ahead and the work being done locally.
Pat Goldrick, Vice-Chairman of the County Minor Board congratulated the Club on its achievements in 2010 and their contribution to and cooperation with the County Board through the year and wished the club every success in 2011.
Aidan Lavin, Chairman of the Senior Club echoed these sentiments and urged all to continue the great work being done.
The Chairman of the Minor Club, Gerry Cregg thanked all who had worked so hard and contributed to the success of the club in 2010 with special mention to outgoing trainers Bernie Shannon, Paul Beirne and Aidan Lavin; Liam Conroy with the schools and the generous sponsors; He also thanked all for their help on the night. The Chairman then made presentations to Sean Purcell (who made most of the presentations) and David Casey in recognition of their Connacht Championship win in 2010. Joe Sweeney and Stephen Bohan and Fergal O’Donnell were commended for their part in that success also.
Thanks were expressed to the media, Roscommon Herald and People and realboyle and to Mary Regan and Sean O’Dowd for their attendance. Martin Purcell and Sabrina Corrigan were thanked for their help with the U 16 team picture a copy of which was presented to each team member.(Apologies were received from Sean Young who was away on the night).
A few moments silence were observed as a mark of respect in noting the terrible tragedy of the death of Michella Harte-McAreavey in Mauritius.
The absence of a number club members abroad, such as Tadgh and Killian Egan, Damian Keenehan, Seamie Gallagher, Roch Hanmore, Ciaran Conlon- in troubled Brisbane-, Ciaran Keenehan, Damien Dooley and A.N.Other was referred to.
That was it and hopefully we will have as much, if not more, to celebrate after 2011. As someone said the country’s hope is as much G.A.A. as I.D.A !
(I presume I’ve left someone out or made some errors above please let me know same!). So to Senior A.G.M.
